Short answer: GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. It is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One, and there's no PC or Switch 2 version announced. Every PS5 model and both Xbox Series consoles are covered.

Searching "can I play GTA 6 on my console?" Here's the full answer, checked against the official PlayStation, Xbox and Take-Two pages (7 Nov 2026).

Is GTA 6 on PS4?

No. Sony's own page says it plainly: GTA VI "will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles. It will not be available for PlayStation 4 consoles." There's no PS4 disc, no PS4 version on the store and no PS4-to-PS5 upgrade, because there's nothing to upgrade from. That includes the PS4 Pro.

Is GTA 6 on Xbox One?

No. The Xbox store page lists Xbox Series X|S as the only platform. Old Xbox One games carry forward to Series consoles, but it doesn't work the other way: GTA 6 won't run on an Xbox One or One X.

Does it work on Xbox Series S?

Yes. Series S owners buy the same game as Series X owners, from the same Xbox Series X|S listing. Storage is the bigger worry on a Series S: the pre-load is up to 212 GB, which is a big chunk of a Series S drive. Our 212 GB storage guide shows how to make room.

What does "PS5 Pro Enhanced" mean?

PlayStation shows the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label on GTA VI. What it doesn't say yet is what actually changes on Pro. Rockstar hasn't published official resolutions or graphics modes for any console, so treat any "PS5 Pro fps" figure you see online as unofficial until Rockstar or Sony confirms it.

What about PC?

Nothing has been announced. Rockstar's launch is console-only. We've collected what's known and rumoured in our GTA 6 on PC thread.

Can I play it on PlayStation Portal or my phone?

Only by streaming from your own PS5. The PlayStation page lists Remote Play supported, so a PS5 owner can stream the game to a PlayStation Portal or another Remote Play device. You still need the PS5 at home running the game.

Still on PS4 or Xbox One? Your options

  1. Upgrade before 19 November. Any PS5 or Xbox Series console runs it.
  2. Pre-order now even if the console comes later. Buying before 20 November gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+. More in our pre-order bonus guide.
  3. Buy the right version. A PS5 code works on every PS5 model, and an Xbox Series X|S code works on both Series consoles. PlayStation codes are region-locked to your PSN country, Xbox codes aren't. Details in our launch prep guide.

Where to buy: official stores are the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. For digital keys, compare prices at Loaded (formerly CDKeys), and make sure the region and platform match your account.

Affiliate disclosure: the Loaded link is an affiliate link for gtacommunity.net. It costs you nothing extra and helps keep the site online for launch.
